What is TeamPostsBot?
TeamPostsBot is the web crawler used by TeamPosts, an SEO platform operated by Vibe Works Studio LLC. It reads public web pages so TeamPosts can give website owners an SEO score, a list of problems to fix, and a table of every page it analyzed. It identifies itself on every request with this user agent:
TeamPostsBot/1.0 (+https://teamposts.com/bot)
Why did TeamPostsBot visit my website?
TeamPostsBot only visits a website when a TeamPosts user asks it to. That happens in two situations: the owner of the website (or someone they authorized, such as their web developer or marketing agency) added the site to TeamPosts for an SEO scan, or a TeamPosts user added your home page as a competitor to compare against their own. Pro accounts can also schedule an automatic weekly rescan of their own websites. TeamPostsBot does not crawl the web at random and does not build a public search index.
How it behaves
- Reads only publicly available pages. It never logs in, submits forms, adds items to carts or bypasses paywalls.
- Obeys the rules in your
robots.txtfile forTeamPostsBotand for*, including Disallow and Allow rules. - Requests a small number of pages at a time with short pauses in between, and stops at the page limit of the user's plan.
- Never requests private, internal or local network addresses.
- Follows redirects on your own domain, but records them so the site owner can fix outdated internal links.
What it reads
For each page, TeamPostsBot records the HTTP status code, response time, page title, meta description, headings, canonical tag, language, structured data types, Open Graph tags, image alt text, internal links and approximate word count. It also checks your robots.txt, XML sitemap and llms.txt file. Page text is used only to produce the SEO report for the user who requested it; competitor analysis is limited to the home page.
How to block TeamPostsBot
Add the following to the robots.txt file at the root of your website. TeamPostsBot will stop crawling your site on its next visit:
User-agent: TeamPostsBot
Disallow: /
To block only part of your website, list the folders instead, for example Disallow: /members/.
How to slow it down
TeamPostsBot already limits how fast it requests pages. If your server is still under strain, block specific sections in robots.txt or email us your domain and we will lower the crawl rate for it.
Verifying requests
Requests from TeamPostsBot always include the user agent above and a link back to this page. If you see a request that claims to be TeamPostsBot but behaves differently from what is described here, it may be an impersonator. Let us know and include the date, time and IP address.
