Computer Fraud and Abuse Act & state computer-access laws

The federal Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (18 U.S.C. § 1030) and state laws such as Colorado's computer crime statute (C.R.S. § 18-5.5-102) prohibit accessing computers without authorization. TeamPosts only reads publicly available web pages, obeys robots.txt, identifies itself as TeamPostsBot, blocks requests to private and internal networks, and requires users to confirm they own or are authorized to scan each website. Changes are applied to a website only through a connector that the site owner installs with their own secret token.

CAN-SPAM Act

Our commercial emails comply with the CAN-SPAM Act (15 U.S.C. § 7701 et seq.): they identify us as the sender, use accurate subject lines, include our physical location, and contain a working one-click unsubscribe link (RFC 8058 List-Unsubscribe) that we honor promptly — well within the 10 business days the law allows. Marketing email is sent only to users who opted in at sign-up. Transactional messages (password resets, scan reports you enabled) are not marketing messages.

Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA)

TeamPosts does not send text messages or make automated calls. If we ever add SMS, we will obtain prior express written consent as the TCPA (47 U.S.C. § 227) requires.

State consumer privacy laws

We design our practices around the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA (Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.100 et seq.), the Colorado Privacy Act (C.R.S. § 6-1-1301 et seq.), and comparable laws in Virginia, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon and other states. We do not sell personal information, do not use it for targeted advertising, honor Global Privacy Control signals, provide access, correction, deletion and portability rights, and provide an appeal process. Details are in our Privacy Policy.

Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA)

TeamPosts is a business tool for adults. Users must be 18 or older, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (15 U.S.C. § 6501 et seq.).

Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) policy

We respect intellectual property rights and respond to notices under 17 U.S.C. § 512. If you believe content hosted on or generated through TeamPosts infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated agent at dmca@teamposts.com including:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature;
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed;
  3. Identification of the infringing material and information reasonably sufficient to locate it;
  4. Your contact information (address, telephone number and email);
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law; and
  6. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

If your content was removed, you may send a counter-notice under § 512(g). We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances. Knowingly false notices may result in liability under § 512(f).

Accessibility (Americans with Disabilities Act)

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, consistent with the goals of the ADA, and our scanner flags common accessibility issues such as missing image alt text and missing language attributes. If you have difficulty using any part of TeamPosts, email support@teamposts.com and we will provide the information in an accessible format and work to fix the barrier.

FTC Act, advertising and endorsements

Section 5 of the FTC Act (15 U.S.C. § 45) and the Colorado Consumer Protection Act (C.R.S. § 6-1-101 et seq.) prohibit unfair or deceptive practices. We do not guarantee search rankings, and scores are estimates based on published best practices. If you publish content created with TeamPosts, you are responsible for complying with the FTC's Endorsement Guides (16 C.F.R. Part 255) and its rule on fake reviews and testimonials (16 C.F.R. Part 465) — never publish fabricated reviews, testimonials or undisclosed paid endorsements.

Artificial intelligence disclosures

Pro features use Anthropic's Claude models to generate recommendations and content. AI output is labeled in the Service and should be reviewed by a person before publishing. TeamPosts does not use AI to make consequential decisions about individuals (such as employment, credit, housing or insurance) as described in the Colorado Artificial Intelligence Act (C.R.S. § 6-1-1701 et seq.). We will update this disclosure as AI regulations develop.

Electronic Signatures (E-SIGN Act)

By creating an account you consent to receive agreements, notices and disclosures electronically, and you agree that clicking to accept our Terms is your electronic signature under the E-SIGN Act (15 U.S.C. § 7001 et seq.) and the Colorado Uniform Electronic Transactions Act. You may request paper copies by emailing us.

Data security and breach notification

We protect personal information with reasonable security procedures as required by C.R.S. § 6-1-713.5 and comparable state laws. In the event of a security breach involving personal information, we will notify affected individuals and, where required, the Colorado Attorney General within 30 days of determining the breach occurred (C.R.S. § 6-1-716), and comply with the notification laws of other states where affected users reside.

Export controls and sanctions

You may not use the Service if you are located in a country subject to comprehensive U.S. sanctions or are on a U.S. government restricted-party list, including lists maintained by the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and the Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry and Security.

Communications Decency Act, Section 230

Users are responsible for the websites they submit and the content they publish. TeamPosts is a tool; content that users generate and publish on their own websites is their content (47 U.S.C. § 230).

Governing law

These policies are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado and applicable U.S. federal law, with venue in Boulder County, Colorado, as described in our Terms of Service.
